IThousands of people throughout the world have witnessed aerial objects in the sky, flying, hovering, performing almost impossible feats of flight and direction, and speed. But most people do not know what to do if they witness this or any other similar phenomena. In circumstances like these there is a check list with ten basic rules :
1. Attempt to video record or photograph the object as soon as possible.
2. Note the Time and Date.
3. Note the Weather Conditions and if any other aerial objects are visible.
4. Bring another persons attention to it, if possible.
5. Note the duration of the sighting and direction, speed etc.
6. Report it as soon as possible to a local UFO group or organisation.
7. Keep recording devices handy for a few days, in case of a second sighting.
8. Make a sketch if possible.
9. Note any sound or absence of it.
10. Note anything else unusual
It is then usual for the group or organisation you report your sighting to, to conduct a thorough investigation, contacting other groups and official organisations if necessary. But remember that if you decide to remain anonymous, make sure that you declare this to the investigator(s) who are dealing with your case, most organisations will have a code of confidentiality and your details will remain classified, but beware, not all investigators have been known to adhere to this clause.
The following information is a system used for the classification of UFO encounters. The categories listed have been widely accepted by many individuals and organisations, and are in widespread use today. UPIA, Para.Science and Manchester's Association of Paranormal Investigators and Training, (MAPIT), use this classification system.
Over the past several years, we have now decided that UFO is a term not encompassing the phenomena completely, therefore we now deem the subject as UAP - Unknown Aerial Phenomena. But the term UFO will continue to be used for these pages as not to confuse.
CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE FIRST KIND (CE1):
The appearance of a UFO within 500 feet or less of the witness.
CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE SECOND KIND (CE2):
Incidents in which a UFO affects the environment in some way, for example by scorching of vegetation, leaving landing traces, traces of radiation, burning or otherwise injuring witnesses. The UFO has a measurable physical effect on either animate or inanimate matter.
CLOSE ENCOUNTER OF THE THIRD KIND (CE3):
Reports of beings, usually humanoid, in connection with UFO sightings. One subset of CE3s is the Abduction Experience, in which persons allegedly are taken against their will into UFOs and subjected by their humanoid occupants to physical tests or experiments before they are released, usually with memory impairment. Memory has been known to return under hypnotic regression or spontaneous recall.
CLOSE ENCOUNTER OF THE FOURTH KIND, CLASS ONE (CE4-1):
Abduction by an alien. Abductees experience severe reality distortion, memory lapses, 'post abduction trauma' symptoms such as fear and anxiety, physiological effects, paralysis, time and space disorientation.
CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE FOURTH KIND, CLASS TWO (CE4-2):
These are events classed as an abduction, but it is believed that not all witnesses are forcibly taken against their own will, thus not really being a true abduction. These experiences are when a witness voluntarily assist or follow an entity onto an awaiting craft of some sort.
CLOSE ENCOUNTER OF THE FIFTH KIND (CE5):
Communication between a human being and an extra-terrestrial, via non-physical means, using sounds or lights etc.
CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE SIXTH KIND, (CE6):
These are encounters that have resulted in the death of animals or even humans, i.e. A witness observes a UFO, over a field of cattle, suddenly there is a flash of bright light, and the UFO quickly speeds out of sight, when the witness visits the cattle's location, they find a mutilated cow.
DISTANT ENCOUNTER RANGE: UFO STIMULUS OVER 150 YARDS.
DISTANT ENCOUNTER OF THE FIRST KIND, (DE1):
These encounters are when there are low definition cases with no definitive shape or effects. This class is also known as LITS, (Lights in the sky), and are probably the hardest type of UFO reports to investigate, as they can be almost anything.
DISTANT ENCOUNTERS OF THE SECOND KIND, (DE2):
These encounters are medium definition cases, where a clear shape has been witnessed.
DISTANT ENCOUNTERS OF THE THIRD KIND, (DE3):
These cases are those which are detected instrumentally, such as radar or by photographic means.
